You've probably had a teenager who has wrestled with this, and a significant part of your youth group likely experiences some kind of mental health issue. So how can you help? The good news is that...
We need community, and the good news is you are already part of a few, now get to work in transforming them from something where you are just a frequent shopper number into a place where you are...
Doing ministry day in and day out is awesome and an incredible privilege, but nothing, including youth ministry, can replace your personal relationship with Jesus.
Youth Group is open to all high school aged youth. Whether you are not sure you believe in God, don’t think about God, or communicate with him regularly, you are welcome. Our goal is to deepen your relationship with God and your understanding of our beautiful Catholic Faith. We do this through catechesis, prayer, retreats, missions, praise and worship, discussion, service, and adoration just to name a few. We are excited to announce that we are implementing small groups, up to 10 people, for youth ministry this year. Groups will be separated into boy and girl groups. You may indicate on your registration form any friends that you would like to be in a group with.
We tried to visit with each teen eligible for youth group this summer and deliver a gift to them. This was an amazing experience. We really enjoyed meeting with you! Girls received the book How to Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul and Boys received The Dating Blue Print. Both books were from the Chasity Project and written by Jason and/or Crystalina Evert. We will use these for group discussion. If we missed you, let us know! We are offering a few different options for meeting dates. Please indicate your preference on the registration form. Looking forward to sharing our lives in Christ with you!!
Youth Group During COVID The Diocese of Lansing has issued guidelines for Youth ministry which follow the State of Michigan Safe Start Plan. As we are in a Phase 4 MERC District as of August 2020, we are permitted to hold in-person gatherings if social distancing requirements are met. Small groups will allow us to be together face to face, while maintaining social distancing. If you are not comfortable with in-person gatherings, we will offer an on-line option also. Facemasks will be required unless they cannot be medically tolerated as indicated by the parent/guardian.
We expect that you will keep your teen at home if they are ill. Youth Ministers and volunteers will perform a temperature check and a daily self-examination before coming to work. Sessions will be cancelled if they exhibit any new or unusual symptoms associated with COVID-19. Meeting areas will undergo cleaning after each session.
